105/8 in 20 overs: How India left Pakistan in tatters with bowling masterclass

New Delhi: Indian bowlers have delivered a dominating performance in their ongoing match against Pakistan in the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 at Dubai International Stadium in Dubai. Pakistan scored 105 runs in the 20 overs for the loss of eight wickets after opting to bat first.

Fast bowler Renuka Singh removed Gull Feroza in the first over with a brilliant inswinger. Muneeba and Sidra Amin looked to build a partnership but Deepti Sharma dismissed Sidra with a slow tossed-up delivery that spun in from off. Sidra was looking to play a sweep shot but was early in her shot. She got a deflection off her glove and ball hit the leg stump.

Sidra’s dismissal opened the floodgates as Pakistan kept losing wickets at a regular interval. Arundhati provided Team India with their third breakthrough and removed Omaima Sohail on just 3 runs. Shreyanka Patil dismissed Muneeba Ali on 17 runs. Muneeba tried to use her feet to go down the ground but Shreyanka dragged her length back and Richa did a great job behind the wicket.

Arundhati took her second wicket and dismissed Aliya Riaz on just 4 runs. Fatima Sana smashed Asha Sobhana for two consecutive boundaries but she took her revenge and dismissed Fatima on 13 runs. Fatima looked to play a slog-sweep but the ball turned away and got the outside edge of her bat, Richa stuck her right hand out and took a brilliant catch.

Shreyanka picked up her second wicket of the match and dismissed Tuba Hassan on a duck. Shreyanka tossed up the delivery outside off and Tuba top-edges it to the fielder at short fine-leg. Arundhati dismissed Nida Dar on 28 runs and took her third wicket of the match.

Must win game for the Women in Blue

Team India need 106 runs in the 20 overs to win their first match of the tournament. Harmanpreet and Co. have already lost their first match of the tournament against New Zealand by 58 runs after failing to deliver match-winning performances in all three departments. If Team India fails to chase the target they will be out of the tournament.
