New Delhi: Rajasthan Royals (RR)’s young sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi lit up the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur with his dazzling strokes to notch up his maiden century off just 35 balls in his side’s clash against Gujarat Titans (GT) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 on Monday. The 14-year-old talented left-hander dismantled the Gujarat bowling attack, taking their bowlers to the cleaners.
Suryavanshi, who is highly rated among his peers, showcased his exceptional hitting prowess against the Gujarat Titans to smash the second-fastest hundred in IPL history after Chris Gayle, who slammed a 30-ball ton en route to his historic 175 not out against Pune Warriors India in IPL 2013. Suryavanshi also shattered the record for the fastest hundred by an Indian batter in the IPL.
The 14-year-old left-hander combined with Yashasvi Jaiswal to get RR off to a flying start in the 210-run chase as they dominated the proceedings in the Powerplay. Suryavanshi got off the mark in style with a huge six against Mohammed Siraj in the first over before smoking Ishant Sharma all around the park in the fourth over to showcase his exceptional hitting prowess.
The young gun plundered Ishant for back-to-back sixes off the first two balls of his over before slamming a boundary. He played a solitary dot ball before finishing the over with a six and four to help RR get 28 runs from it. There was no looking back for the talented left-hander after the sensational over as he smashed two sixes and a four against Washington Sundar in the next over to race to his fifty off just 17 balls.
