New Delhi: South Delhi Supertarz rode on tremendous form of batters Priyansh Arya and Ayush Badoni to post a record-breaking total of 308 for 5 against North Delhi Strikers in the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2024 on Saturday at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in the national capital.

The highlight of the match was opener Priyansh smashing six sixes in the 12th over bowled by North Delhi’s left-arm spinner Manan Bhardwaj. However, the wrecker-in-chief was Ayush Badoni who walloped 19 sixes and eight boundaries in a blistering 165-run knock which came off just 55 deliveries at an astonishing strike rate of 300.

Bringing his experience of playing with the Lucknow Super Giants in the inaugural edition of the DPL T20 2024, Badoni has been the star attractions of the South Delhi side for his consistency with the bat. The 24-year-old youngster has amassed 515 runs from seven innings at a strike rate of 226.87 with the help of four fifties and a century.

#3 Most sixes by an individual in a T20 innings

Ayush Badoni smashed 19 sixes from his willow against the North Delhi Strikers bowling attack. This was the most sixes by an individual batter in a T20 innings, breaking the record of Estonia’s Sahil Chauhan, who smashed 18 sixes against Cyprus in Episkopi in June this year. South Delhi Supertarz also registered the most sixes in a T20 innings – 31.

#2 Highest individual score by an Indian in T20s

Ayush Badoni registered the third highest individual score in T20 cricket with his magnificent 165-run in the 23rd match of the DPL T20 2024. West Indies swashbuckling batter holds this record with his blazing unbeaten 175 for Royal Challengers Bangalore (now Royal Challengers Bengaluru) in IPL 2013.

Former Australia skipper Aaron Finch set the record for highest individual score in T20 Internationals with his breathtaking efforts of smashing 172 runs from 76 balls against Zimbabwe in 2018. Badoni’s 165 against North Delhi Strikers is now recorded as the third best score in all competitions of T20 cricket.

He bettered Indian international player Shreyas Iyer’s record of 147, which was scored in Mumbai vs Sikkim Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match in 2019, to post the highest individual score in the shortest format by an Indian.

#1 Highest partnership in history of T20 cricket

Ayush Badoni (165) and Priyansh Arya (120) recorded the highest partnership in the history of T20 cricket for any wicket. The South Delhi Superstarz duo stitched a phenomenal 286-run stand for the second wicket as the team went past 300 to register the second best total in T20s.

Ayush and Priyansh surpassed the previous mark held by Japanese openers Lachlan Yamamoto-Lake and Kendel Kadowaki-Fleming with 258 runs against China in the East Asia Cup on February 15, 2024.
