New Delhi: SBI Amrit Vrishti, a limited period special FD scheme with a 444-day tenure offer a 7.25 per cent rate of return on general category deposits and 7.75 per cent returns on senior citizen category deposits. Banks have entered a race to vie for retail deposits in a bid to raise funds as the Reserve Bank of India has kept the repo rate unchanged at 6.50 per cent.
These funds are used by banks to extend loans and keep the wheels of the economy moving. The interest earned from loans, among other sources of income, is used to repay the interest on retail FDs. The higher FD rates aim to incentivise longer-term deposits to strengthen the dry power that banks need to re-invest or extend loans. Here, we will show you the other 4000-day tenure FDs offered by banks and how they compare in terms of returns offered.
