New Delhi: It is now official that the Spanish mastermind, Pep Guardiola has agreed to a new two-year deal with Manchester City, which would keep him in the position until 2027. He claims that the team’s recent poor performance prevented him from leaving in the summer. The 53-year-old’s decision to commit for two more seasons beyond the current one—he was only supposed to contract for one—is a huge lift for the team, especially considering that it comes during the worst run of form under his leadership, which consists of four straight losses.
When Guardiola’s new contract expires, he will have spent 11 years at City. As of right now, he has the second-longest tenure of any manager in all four divisions and the longest in the Premier League.
What made Pep Guardiola stay

In an announcement video, Guardiola stated that he has been thinking a lot since the start of the season. And to tell the truth, he believed that this season would be the final one. However, given the issues that City have experienced over the past month, he didn’t think “it was time to go.”
The Spaniard also stated that he didn’t want to disappoint the club. Simply put, he felt that he could not leave at this time. “Please don’t ask me why. Perhaps I felt unable to go because of the four losses.”
“I believe that my friends, staff, and I deserve to be here,” he continued. According to him, City should, try to turn things around following four straight losses. He received the impression that he had to make the proper choices for the future at that particular time, and he wanted to do so.

Manchester City holds great significance to Pep and now that he is in his eighth season here, he has already shared so many incredible moments together. He further stated that he feels a really unique connection to this football team and he is thrilled to be staying for two more seasons because of this.
Guardiola expressed gratitude to the club’s owner, Sheikh Mansour; chairman, Khaldoon al-Mubarak; chief executive, Ferran Soriano; and leaving sporting director, Txiki Begiristain, who is also a personal friend.

There is no break provision in Guardiola’s contract in the event that an independent commission finds the team to have committed financial misconduct and the team is demoted from the Premier League. The team is fighting back against over 100 accusations made by the Premier League. The city refutes every accusation. Demotion from the top division is one possible punishment if the champions are found guilty, contingent on the severity of the verdict.
Although his first season ended without a title, Guardiola has won trophies in each of his seven full seasons since taking over City in the summer of 2016. Six Premier League titles, one Champions League, four Carabao Cups, two FA Cups, a Uefa Super Cup, and the Fifa Club World Cup are all on his extensive list of notable accomplishments for City.
Guardiola’s team has scored 1,200 goals at an average of 2.45 goals per game, and he has won 353 of his 490 City games across all competitions, for a 72% win percentage. Guardiola is surpassed only by Les McDowall, who oversaw 587 City games from 1950 to 1963, on the team’s all-time list.
