New Delhi: Real Madrid are reportedly looking at Santiago Solari as the interim manager to replace Carlo Ancelotti, according to Spanish media outlet Relevo. Los Blanco haven’t enjoyed the best campaigns this year after winning La Liga and the Champions League last season.
Real are currently third in the La Liga table and behind the points table leaders Barcelona by seven points. The story at the Champions League story isn’t any better as they are currently placed 18th after four games, with just two wins. The 65-year-old has been under scrutiny for a while after a 3-0 loss to Milan in the Champions League. Some talks were reportedly held soon after Real’s loss to Barcelona in October.
Despite posing a star-studded team, Real haven’t clicked together as a unit, with big names either injured or struggling to find form, including Jude Bellingham. Kylian Mbappe joined the side this summer and hasn’t yet found his ground in the top flight of Spanish football. Ancelotti has been criticised for failing to acclimatise the French captain in the Madrid dressing room yet.
Madrid’s game against Osasuna in La Liga could have been his final at Santiago Bernabeu, but 4-0 ensured that he would return as Real’s top boss following the international break. If he cannot turn things for the Spanish capital club soon, he could be looking at termination.

Is Santiago Solari the perfect candidate to replace Ancelotti?
Solari has been deemed the perfect replacement for the Italian manager. The Argentinian had stepped in as interim manager to take charge of the Real back in 2018 and oversaw 22 wins and eight losses from 32 games. The 48-year-old had first started coaching Madrid’s youth side in 2013 and has been associated with the club in some form of power or the other. Currently, he is Madrid’s director of football and has held the role since 2022.
It is clear that Ancelotti’s future is unclear even if he is not sacked this season after receiving an ultimatum from the top bosses at Madrid. Ancelotti’s first stint saw him at the helm of Real between 2013 to 2015, and he rejoined the side back in 2021. Over his two stints he has managed to win 14 trophies for the club.
