KKR buy back Venkatesh Iyer for whopping for Rs 23.75 crore at IPL mega auction

New Delhi: Defrending champions Kolkata Knight Riders sent Rs 23.75 crore for left hand top order Venkatesh Iyer t the IPL mega auctions in Jeddah on Sunday.

The left hander had a base price of Rs 2 crore and attracted a lot of interest from KKR, Lucknow Super Ginats and Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

New Delhi: Kolkata Knight Riders sent Rs 23.75 crore for left hand top order Venkatesh Iyer t the IPL mega auctions in Jeddah on Sunday.

Chennai Super Kings bought spin bowling all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin for Rs 9.75 crore, who also used the right to match (RTM) card to retain him for Rs 4 crore after Punjab Kings wanted him.

Australian all-rounder Mitchell March went to LSG for Rs 3.40 crore. LSG also bought South Africa batter Aiden Markram for Rs 2 crore.

Delhi Capitals used the RTM card to buy back opener Jake Fraser-McGurk for Rs 9 crore.

CSK also bought back opener Devon Conway for Rs 6.25 crore while Rahul Trapthi went to five-time champions at Rs 3.40 crore.

Pacer Harshal Patel went to Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 8 crore while English all-rounder Harry Brook was sannped up by Delhi Capitals for Rs 6.25 crore

India batter Devdutt Padikkal and former Australia opener David Warner went unsold.

Punjab Kings bagged dashing Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell for Rs 4.20 crore after getting Aussie all-rounder Marcus Stoinis for Rs 11 crore.

Pant becomes highest IPL buy ever

Earlier, Rishabh Pant became the costliest player in IPL’s history as Lucknow Super Giants bid Rs 27 crore.

Iyer had become the costliest player momentarily when Punjab Kings bid Rs 26.75 crore, surpassing Kolkata Knight Riders’ Rs 24.75 crore for Australian pacer Mitchell Starc.

But after getting involved in a bidding war with Sunrisers Hyderabad, LSG outdid Delhi Capitals’ right to match option (RTM) option with a bid of Rs 27 crore.
