New Delhi: UEFA Champions League resumes action for matchday five after a long international break. Over the last few gameweeks, Liverpool have managed to establish itself at the top of the points table, replacing Aston Villa in the last Champions League outing with the Villans losing 1-0 to Club Bruggues.
The top five teams have been undefeated so far in the tournament, with Liverpool winning all of their four clashes in the tournament so far. Sporting CP have been an exciting side as they enter the matchday in second position, having defeated Manchester City in the last game. With the competition entering an interesting position, here are some of the key fixtures of the day.

Bayern Munich will come this week on the back of a six-game winning streak. Their last defeat was a 4-1 loss to Barcelona in the Champions League in October. They will be very confident when they play the Tuesday game with a 3-0 win over Augsburg, which puts them at the top of the Bundesliga table, six points above the second-placed Eintracht Frankfurt. While they have performed well in the domestic games, they have lost against big teams, Aston Villa and Barcelona in the Champions League and are now 17th in the table with just six points.
PSG, back in the 2022-23 Champions League, lost in both home and away fixtures in the final 16 stages of the tournament. In fact, Bayern’s Champions League win in 2020 also came against PSG, when the German team won 1-0 in the final. Bayern does have the upper hand in the fixtures. However, PSG are coming on the back of a 3-0 win against Toulouse in Ligue 1. In the 12 matchdays in the domestic tournament, they have collected 32 points and are at the top of the table by six points. In the Champions League, they have been beaten by both Arsenal and Atletico Madrid and have so far just one win in four games.

Inter Milan started their Champions League campaign with a goalless draw over Manchester City. They have won all three games since, including a 1-0 win over Arsenal at San Siro. They have yet to concede a single goal this season and are currently placed fifth in the Champions League points table. Their consistent performances have seen them reach the last three knockout stages of the tournament. Having just registered one loss in the entire season, Inter are looking good for their fourth European Championship.
RB are going to play their first Champions League game in Italy, though they have previously won against Napoli and Atlanta BC in the Europa League. Despite sitting in the third spot in the Bundesliga, their performance in the European competition has been below par. They would need to win their next few fixtures at all costs in order to avoid automating elimination after remaining winless in the tournament so far. So far in the tournament, they have lost twice despite breaking the deadlock. A loss in this game would equal their longest losing streak in the European Championship.

Before the international break, Mikel Arteta and his side were not looking at their beast, having gone winless in four games in the Premier League. They were able to break the shackles with a 3-0 win against Nottingham Forest. Bukayo Saka and Thomas Partey had already ensured that Nottingham were knocked out of the competition before the 17-year-old Ehtan Nwanerin scored his first goal in the competition, making him the second youngest Arsenal scorer in the Premier League. The Gunners are currently placed in 12th position with two wins in the tournament.
Sporting will come to the draw without their charismatic manager Ruben Amorim who saw their 4-1 win against Manchester City as his last assignment with the club. Joao Pereira has overtaken Amorim’s job with a 6-0 win against Amarante. They have a good chance at making life worse for Arsenal giving them a five match goalless streak in an away match. Sitting comfortably behind just Liverpool, Sporting will be the more confident side of the two.
