New Delhi: It is always a pleasure to watch Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain taking on each other in the biggest European club competition. Both the clubs have a pretty long history and whenever these two face off against each other, there is no shortage of thrill and excitement on the pitch. The last time these two met was back in the month of March, 2023, where Bayern managed to ease past the Parisians with 2-0 win, to progress through to the quarter finals of the Champions League.
There is no doubt about the fact that Bayern will have the upper hand in this fixture considering they have won six out of their eight outings against the French club. However, with that, it will be interesting to see how both the managers will be using their star players, as there is no shortage of quality on the pitch. Before we head into the game, let’s have a look at the key battles on the pitch that could prove pivotal in deciding the outcome of the game.
Alphonso Davies vs Ousmane Dembele
A battle that involves blistering pace, acceleration and some excitement, it would be a treat to watch the PSG’s French winger, Ousmane Dembele going head to head against Bayern’s Canadian fullback Alphonso Davies. Bayern Munich discovered the talent of Davies back in 2018, as the left back came up the ranks of Bayern’s youth club to make his professional debut in the 2018/19 season, and the rest is history. Currently one of the best in his position, that is the left defensive flank of the field, Davies has made quite a reputation of being one of the fastest players in the world.
He is a tremendous attacking threat, but what defines him further is his ability to track back and make those important defensive contributions for his side. His pace and ability to go on for 90 minutes or more, makes him a top asset for Vincent Kompany’s side as he will deliver the goods when his side needs him the most.
However, it won’t be an easy task containing the threat that Ousmane Dembele can produce from that right flank. With 10 goal contributions this season for PSG in all competitions, the French winger is having a good time under Luis Enrique, and he will be determined to getPSG back on track after the early disappointments from this season’s Champions League. It will be a great watch where these two talented players will be lighting up the flanks of the park and it could prove to be a major factor that could decide the score of this clash.
Jamal Musiala vs Vitinha
Two fantastic prospects, ready to light up the field, Jamal Musiala will be going toe-to-toe against PSG’s Vitinha in a midfield battle. Still only 21, Musiala has already established himeslf as one of the best offensive midfielders in the world right now and he is maintaining that reputation wuite well. One of the most technically gifted youngsters, the German’s silky smooth style of play makes it extremely difficult to track his movement. What he does with the ball at his feet is truly magical, as his close control and balance makes him a tricky player to defend against.
Hos opposite number Vitinha is another prospect who has been a revelation for the Parisians. The Portuguese international has established himeslf as a top notch box to box midfielder. Although his versatility in the midfield allows him to play as a number six as well as an offensive midfielder, he will surely sit back and play at his natural number eight against Bayern. The tireless Portuguese has the lungs to go full 90 and produce a good defensive shift, as well as help his side go upfront and pounce on any sort of opportunity he gets. It will be interesting to see who would top this midfield battle.
Harry Kane vs Marquinhos
A veteran’s battle where Bayern’s prolific striker Harry Kane will be up against PSG’s long serving defender and captain, Marquinhos. The English centre forward is reaching all the heights ever since he made his move to the Bavarian side as he has truly been in a tremendous goalscoring run. Fresh off from a hattrick against Augsburg in Bayern’s recent Bundesliga outing, Harry Kane has already scored 20 times this season in all competitions, five of which were scored in the Champions League. The 31-year-old will be the biggest threat to PSG’s goal, with his unbelievable goalscoring abilities and the killer instinct in front of the goal.
However, it may not be that easy for him this time, as PSG’s Marquinhos will be given the orders to mark the prolific goal machine. Now onto his 12th season for the French champions, Marquinhos knows the system better than any other current PSG player. His experience of more than 400 games will make him an important asset for Luis Enrique’s side and his defensive shift which has been top notch over the years, might just do the trick for PSG to keep the English forward from scoring a deciding goal.
Bayern Munich vs PSG has always been a classic and we have some of the top talents taking on each other on the pitch. Here’s a look at the key battles that could prove pivotal. Football Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
