New RCB recruit, roped in for 8.75 cr in IPL auction, dazzles in Abu Dhabi T10 league

New Delhi: English all-rounder Liam Livingstone, who was recently roped in by Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for a whopping price of Rs 8.75 crore at the IPL mega auction, sizzled in the Abu Dhabi T-10 league on Tuesday. Livingstone smashed a 15-ball half-century for Bangla Tigers, which powered them to a seven-wicket victory over Delhi Bulls in the T10 league.

Enroute his fiery knock, Livingstone smashed three boundaries and five sixes as they chased down the target of 123 with two deliveries to spare. Earlier, former English batter James Vince had top-scored for the Bulls with 15-ball 27, but Livingstone ensured to get his side cross the finish line after walking out to bat at 65/2.

English player known for hard-hitting skills

Livingstone is well known for his hard-hitting skills and has been an important part of the English white-ball team over the years. In the IPL, he has scored 939 runs at an impressive strike rate of 162.45 and also has six fifties to his name in the league. This will his first stint with RCB, having played before for franchises like the Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings so far.

His inclusion comes as a big boost for the side who’s been trying to make a mark in the cash-rich league for years now. The modern-day T20 specialist plays in leagues like the Big Bash, SA20 apart from the IPL. He was bought in for a whopping amount of Rs 11.50 crore by PBKS in IPL 2022 but he could only score 437 runs in that season at a strike-rate of 182.08. Having already retained star player Virat Kohli for Rs 21 crore, RCB could only shell out 8.5 crore for Livingstone.
