Virat Kohli’s cheeky reply leaves Australian PM Anthony Albanese in splits – WATCH

New Delhi: Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese hosted Team India at the Parliament House in Canberra on Thursday, November 28. He lauded Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah for their sensational performance in the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He also joked about Kohli’s dominance against Australia in recent years.

As Indian skipper Rohit Sharma introduced the Australian PM to the players, he took a moment to praise Jasprit Bumrah’s bowling action. He then met with Virat Kohli and congratulated him on his century in Perth Test.

“Good ton in Perth. As if we weren’t suffering enough at that point” Australian PM Albanese said to Kohli.

The former India captain gave a cheeky response that left everyone in splits.

“Always gotta add some spice to it” said Kohli.

Rohit and Co. arrived in Canberra on Wednesday and will play a two-day practice match against the Prime Minister’s XI at Manuka Oval on Saturday and Sunday. The match will be played with the pink ball as Team India will look to prepare for the Day-Night Test match in Adelaide, starting December 6.

The Men in Blue defeated Australia by 295 runs at the Optus Stadium in Perth and registered their biggest victory against the Aussies on their soil. Jasprit Bumrah led the side from the front and picked up 8 wickets.

‘Always been a great challenge to in Australia and play cricket’: Rohit Sharma

Skipper Rohit Sharma addressed the Parliament House and said that India and Australia go back a long way, whether it’s sports or trade relations. He further said that over the years the Indian team enjoyed touring Australia and also enjoyed the variety of the culture in the country.

“Australia is one of the challenging places to come and play cricket because of the passion people have, the competitiveness that every player possesses. Which is why you know for us, it’s always been a great challenge to come here and play cricket” Rohit Sharma said.
