New Delhi: MS Dhoni failed to work his magic on captaincy return as Chennai Super Kings suffered their fifth consecutive loss in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 after going down against Kolkata Knights Riders (KKR) in Chepauk on Friday. The chase of 104 was easy for the Knight Riders as they completed the target in the 11th over of the innings, after CSK posted their lowest-ever total at home in the history of IPL.

In reply to CSK’s 103/9 in the stipulated 20 overs, KKR (107/2) completed the easy target in 10.1 overs with 59 balls to spare, handing CSK their biggest defeat in terms of balls remaining. By virtue of this loss, CSK suffered their fifth consecutive defeat in the cash-rich league and third loss in a row at Chepauk. Clinical KKR have to to the third spot in the points table with three wins and three losses while CSK are down at nine with 5 defeats and a lone victory.

Easy chase for KKR

Sunil Narine produced a masterclass knock of 44 runs in just 18 balls to do the bulk of the scoring for the Knight Riders in a small chase. His knock included two boundaries and five massive sixes. Quinton de Kock was the nest best scorer with 23 runs while skipper Ajinkya Rahane and Rinku Singh contributed unbeaten 20 and 15 runs respectively to see the side home.
