New Delhi: The Indian cricket team on Thursday met Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese among other dignitaries as they were invited to the parliament house in Canberra ahead of India’s game against Australia PM XI. After the visiting side secured an emphatic victory in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series opener in Perth, India A will now play a two-day warm-up match against Prime Ministers XI starting on November 29.
Ahead of the match, both the sides with invited to the parliament house were they met the top dignitaries and also posed for photographs. Meanwhile, India skipper Rohit Sharma, who led the contingent to the esteemed house, delivered a powerful speech on being invited to speak on the podium. Rohit emphasized on the on-field rivalry between both the teams and also expressed his love for the country and how much he likes playing in the Australian conditions.

Earlier, social media was abuzz with some videos and photos of Team India’s meeting with the Australian dignitaries, especially the PM. Rohit introduced the PM to the Indian team members and star batter Virat Kohli’s chit chat with him became the highlight of the meeting after the Aussie people lauded Kohli for a century in Perth, emphasising an addition to their suffering to which Kohli, in a witty manner, replied that he loves to add some spice.
Rohit set for return in Adelaide Test
Rohit Sharma, who missed the series opener in Perth due to the birth of his second child, will be back to lead Team India in the second Test match at Adelaide starting from December 6. Pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah led the Indian team in his absence.
