New Delhi: Following PM Narendra Modi’s vision of promoting indigenous Artificial Intelligence (AI) through Bhashini app, the Centre has launched several transformative tools for rural governance for rural development, including a portal called eGramSwaraj.
The Centre has been using this website through AI tool, which helps in converting the content in 22 different languages. According to News18, the languages include Maithili, Dogri, Napali, Sanskrit, Urdu, among other languages.
Initiative helped boost panchayat operations
The initiative has played an important role to boost panchayat operations by helping the government in streamlining budgeting, and planning monitoring through different languages. The portal helps in ensuring better service delivery, and participation. It also helps in empowering panchayats to take care of local needs, an official of the Ministry of Panchayat said.
The government is also utilising the Bhashini app’s Vaanianuvad for different purposes including conferences and seminars, helping presenters to deliver their content in different languages. The official further noted that the innovation has helped in increasing accessibility and ensuring proper rural governance. The move has also heled in countering Hindi supremacy narrative, helping the government to show its commitment to all communities, he added.

In a recent workshop – Sabki Yojana Sabka Vikas — on the People’s Plan Campaign 2024 , AI-powered tools helped in live broadcasts of the events in eight regional languages, which include Tamil, Bengali, Telugu, and Gujarati
Earlier, an event on ‘Ease of Living: Enhancing Service Delivery at the Grassroots’, was stream-lined in 11 languages. Due to its overwhelming response, the government implemented the programme in the Agra Sammelan recently.
