New Delhi: India U19 will lock horns with Japan U19 in their second group-stage match of the ACC U19 Asia Cup at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in Sharjah on Monday. Both teams are coming on the back of a loss as in their respective first clash of the mega event. India went down against arch-rivals Pakistan by 43 runs while UAE defeated Japan by a huge margin of 273 runs.
On Saturday in Dubai, Pakistan had opted to bat first against India and they weighed in on the decision with their openers stitching a 160-run stand for the first wicket. Usman Khan scored 60 while Shahzaib Khan hit a mind-blowing 159 to take Pakistan to 281/7 in 50 overs. India, in response, were wrapped up for 238 in 47.1 overs despite a half-century from middle-order batter Nikhil Kumar (67).
The same day saw Japan U19 getting thrashed by hosts UAE U19 in Sharjah. As the hosts opted to bat first, they piled up a massive score of 325/7 in 50 overs. The openers shone as Akshat Rai hit 53 while Aryan Saxena smashed 150. Japan were too shoddy during the chase as the UAE bowlers bundled them out for a paltry 52 in 24.1 overs, making it an embarrassing start for themselves.
