New Delhi: Jasprit Bumrah played a key role in helping India thrash Austalia by 295 runs in the 1st Test in Perth to go 1-0 up in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. While he did an excellent job as stand-in captain in the absence of regular skipper Rohit Sharma, Bumrah was exceptional with the ball as he tormented the Australian batting line-up across their two innings.
Bumrah ran through the Aussie batting line-up to pick up a brilliant fifer in their first innings and followed it up with three more wickets in the hosts’ second innings to power India to a thumping victory. The pace spearhead will look to continue his stellar run when India lock horns with Australia in the 2nd Test of the five-match series in Adelaide starting Friday, December 06.
The Adelaide Test will be a pink-ball encounter and Bumrah’s performance in the game will be key to India’s chances considering pacers get a lot of assistance from the pink ball. India have so far played 4 pink-ball Tests and won three out of them. Their only defeat came against Australia in Adelaide on their last tour Down Under.
India will be hoping to avoid a second successive defeat in a pink-ball Test against the Aussies and Bumrah will remain integral to their chances. The pacer has so far featured in three of India’s four pink-ball Test matches and will be hoping to prove his mettle once again in Adelaide.
