Champions Trophy reaches picturesque Afghanistan as part of ICC’s global trophy tour

New Delhi: As part of the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) global trophy tour, the Champions Trophy has reached the picturesque nation of Afghanistan. The DP World tour, carrying the prestigious silverware, started in Islamabad, Pakistan – the host nation of the marquee ICC event and will travel across all the eight participating nations.

The aim of the global governing body behind this tour is to provide a unique experience to the cricket fans from all the eight participating nations. The big ICC event, which is still awaiting certainty with respect to the hosting rights, would be held in February-March 2025 with Pakistan being the original host country.

With the BCCI not allowing the Indian cricket team to travel across the border due to the political tensions between two countries, a final decision on whether the tournament will be played in a hybrid model or not is yet to be taken.

Pakistan’s stance firm despite ICC request

In the latest turn of events with respect to the Champions Trophy row, Pakistan has decided to finally agree for the hybrid model but PCB has laid down some strict conditions for BCCI to agree upon. As per multiple media reports, Pakistan cricket is willing to accept the hybrid model for the Champions Trophy but in return, they want a written confirmation from the ICC that all their forthcoming matches staged in India will be played at a neutral venue and they are given an increased share in annual revenue.

Meanwhile, after the Afghanistan tour culminates, the beautiful silverware would be taken across countries like Bangladesh, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, England and finally India in January before the much-awaited massive tourney kickstarts in on February 19.

As par of the ICC’s global trophy tour, the Champions Trophy has reached Afghanistan. The prestigious silverware would be taken across all the eight participating nations.  Cricket Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
