India’s record-extending fifth title

This was India’s record fifth title in the continental tournament, having previously clinched the crown in the year 2004, 2008, 2015 and 2023. The tournament was not held in 2021 due to COVID-19 pandemic. Meanwhile, it was Pakistan who took an early lead in the first quarter but India were quick to bounce back soon in the game. The boys in blue upped their game in the second quarter, securing their second penalty corner in the 18th minute and Araijeet struck again with another powerful flick.

One minute later, a fine field goal by Dilraj extended India’s lead to 3-1, however Pakistan reduced the margin in the 30th minute through a penalty corner conversion by Sufyan. Pakistan bettered their play as they drew level with India in the 39th minute through another penalty corner conversion by Sufyan. Post that, Araijeet  scored twice to put India in complete control with a 5-3 lead, eventually helping the boys in blue win the match. Earlier, Japan beat Malaysia 2-1 to claim the third spot earlier in the day.
