New Delhi: Australia have replaced their injured paceman Josh Hazlewood with Scott Boland, who is their only change for the second Test to take on India in Adelaide. Veteran quick Boland was the frontrunner to be roped into the squad following Hazlewood’s injury and was also a part of the pink-ball practice game between India and Australia’s Prime Minister’s XI, in the tune-up to the day-night Test.
Australia are already 0-1 down in the five-Test Border-Gavaskar Trophy and will look to rebound in Adelaide, under the lights. On the eve of the second Test, skipper Pat Cummins confirmed Boland’s first match for Australia in almost 18 months and also informed that Mitchell Marsh would be fit to bowl in the day-night affair. Marsh was doubtful for the second Test because he pulled up sore during the first Test in Perth.
Boland last featured for Australia during last year’s Ashes series and will now replace Josh Hazlewood after the latter injured his side during the series opener in Perth. Marsh will continue to be a part of the XI despite his battle with back stiffness that prevented him from bowling at full throttle during the second innings of India. “It’s pretty awesome for someone like Scotty to come straight in,” Cummins told media on Thursday.

India yet to name XI
India are yet to announce their side for the second test which begins on Friday and it is expected that the cards will lay open on Thursday itself. The Men in Blue are expected to welcome back their regular skipper Rohit Sharma who recently welcomed his second child and fellow top-order batter Shubman Gill, who has also recovered from an injury. Preparations have been going great so far and their confidence must have been boosted following the win in the practice game against Australia PM’s XI.
Australia’s playing XI for second Test:
Usman Khawaja, Nathan McSweeney, Marnus Labuschagne, Steve Smith, Travis Head, Mitch Marsh, Alex Carey (wk), Pat Cummins (c), Mitchell Starc, Nathan Lyon, Scott Boland.
