New Delhi: It goes without saying that the fitness of star Indian batter Virat Kohli, among all the cricketers around the world, is unmatched. It has been so many years that Kohli has stopped eating “unhealthy food” that he drools over and in the current scenario, only longs for a strict fitness regime. His desire for good and lean health has made him class apart and fitness secrets always grab his fans’ attention as they ask about what routine Kohli actually follows.

Although Kohli has revealed it himself several times in the past, including what made him take the “fit lifestyle” step, his wife and Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma has also talked about Kohli’s fitness in one of the interviews. A video of Anushka is currently making rounds on the internet where she can be seen talking about his husband’s fitness regime and what are the major aspects of his “fit lifestyle”.

Anushka says that Kohli’s daily habits have helped him sustain the pressure of playing all three formats and that he is an inspiration for everyone around him. “Let me be very honest about it, Virat is incredibly disciplined about his health and fitness. I think this is also happening in our industry now. Every morning without fail, he is up early doing cardio or HIIT, and practicing cricket with me,” Anushka said.

Butter chicken, sleep, and more…

“His diet is clean – no junk food or sugary drinks. Can you believe he hasn’t eaten butter chicken in almost 10 years?” she added. Moreover, Kohli prefers to take enough rest which is non-negotiable for him, so that he can be at his best while doing the training and not feel drowsy or dull due to lack of sleep.

“Sleep is non-negotiable for him. He ensures he gets enough rest. It’s the key to staying sharp and performing at his best. He always says – that is something you have control over. His commitment to every aspect of his lifestyle is what makes him not just a world-class athlete, but also an inspiration to everyone around him,” Anushka added.

In the previous month, Kohli ended a long drought of 16 months to finally hit a Test century as he smashed an unbeaten 100 in the first Test against Australia in Perth. This was Kohli’s seventh Test century on the Australian soil and his 30th in international red-ball cricket. He will be seen playing for India in the second Test against Australia which starts on December 6.
