New Delhi: Stock market investors’ fortunes looked upwards as they turned richer by Rs 15.18 lakh crore in five days as the as Sensex rallied 3.44 per cent or 2,722.13 points. The Sensex on Thursday closed 809.53 points higher at 81,765.86. The Sensex was up 1,361.41 points during the day’s trade. The market cap of BSE listed firms surged Rs 15.18 lakh crore to Rs 458 lakh crore in the past 5 sessions.
The NSE Nifty jumped 240.95 points to 24,708.40 at market closing on Thursday. Tech stocks led the rally in Indian indices based on cues from Wall Street indices namely the Dow Jones industrial Average, the S&P 500 and the tech heavy Nasdaq. TCS, Infosys, and Titan were the top gainers from the 30-share Sensex. NTPC, Asian Paints and IndusInd Bank were the top drags.
During the day, 2,141 stocks closed in green while 1,825 shares declined and 117 scrips remained unchanged on the BSE. FIIs purchased shares worth Rs 1,797.60 crore on Wednesday, show exchange data.
The Sensex gained over 2,700 points in the past 5 days gaining nearly 3 per cent, making investors richer by Rs 15.18 lakh crore. BSE listed firms were up nearly 1,300 points during the day’s trade.
