New Delhi: Newly-appointed ICC chairman Jay Shah vowed to take cricket to new heights following his maiden visit to the headquarters in Dubai on Thursday. Shah was elected unopposed in August and after his term began on December 1, he paid his first visit to the headquarters of the game’s global governing body as its head on December 5.
Shah, who became the youngest and fifth Indian to take over as the ICC chair, said that his first visit as ICC chair was productive and inspiring. He further said that while he’s encouraged by what he has seen, he recognises that this is just the beginning. The crucial Champions Trophy meeting was supposed to be held on Thursday but it got postponed for a second time by two days due to unspecified reasons. The meeting will now be held on December 7 likely with the agenda being to arrive on a consensus regarding the hosting and scheduling of matches for the big ICC event.
