‘Just step aside’: Rohit Sharma slammed for awful captaincy in 2nd Test vs Australia

New Delhi: Indian skipper Rohit Sharma was heavily criticised on social media after his poor captaincy saw Australia continue their domination on Day 2 of the ongoing second Test between the two sides at the Adelaide Oval in Adelaide. Travis Head slammed a brilliant knock of 140 runs as Australia posted 337 runs on the board in their first innings to amass a huge lead of 157 runs in the pink-ball Test match.

India made a great start with the ball as Australia resumed their first innings from 86/1 on Day 2. Jasprit Bumrah was at his lethal best once again as he got rid of opener Nathan McSweeney and Steve Smith in quick succession to hand India the momentum. Australia were reduced to 103/3 in no time and were in a spot of bother as India sensed a comeback.

However, India failed to capitalise on the brilliant start from Bumrah as Marnus Labuschagne and Travis Head took the game away from the visitors. Rohit’s captaincy came under the scanner as he made some questionable decisions and was far from proactive with his bowling changes, resulting in India failing to create any pressure on the hosts.

Rohit took Bumrah off the attack immediately after he struck twice to leave Australis reeling and let the pace bowl only four overs in the Test match. Despite Harshit Rana getting bashed all over the park, Rohit persisted with the young pacer while many felt R Ashwin was not brought at the right time against Head, who looked in solid touch after settling down well.

Rohit was bashed by fans on social media for his terrible captaincy as Australia continued to dominate the proceedings in Adelaide. While some called for the Hitman to step aside from Test captaincy soon, others even suggested Rohit to retire from the longest format altogether.

Fans slam Rohit for poor captaincy in Adelaide Test:

This is pathetic captaincy by Rohit Sharma. Firstly I don’t understand this obsession that Gautam Gambhir has with Harshit Rana. He has been average and now after a terrific spell by Bumrah rather than getting Ashwin, Sharma gets Rana who bowls half volleys and relieves the…

Such unimaginative captaincy takes me back to 2011 frustrating phase of Indian cricket, though Dhoni never had a luxury of Bumrah and had the balls and guts to step aside in between the test series in 2014!!

Just Step aside Rohit!!

Anyway the session that India had to win to get back into the match – Bumrah bowled FOUR overs.

That should tell you enough how bad Rohit has been with his decision-making as a Test captain. Not even getting into the poor fields and other things now.

Rohit Sharma should leave test captaincy for sanity of Indian Cricket and it Fans…there’s no shame in accepting that you aren’t cut for the job!!

He’s mind boggling awful!

If you are actually defending Rohit’s captaincy today, you truly do not care about India winning.
