New Delhi: 120 players are set to go under the hammer in the upcoming WPL 2025 player auction to be held on December 15. The auction will start at 3 PM (IST) in Bengaluru. 91 Indian players, 29 overseas and three players from the Associate Nations will go under the hammer for 19 places during the Women’s Premier League (WPL) mini-auction. 82 uncapped and 9 capped Indian players, 21 capped and eight uncapped overseas players have registered their names in the auction.
England captain Heather Knight, West Indies all-rounder Deandra Dottin, and former South African wicketkeeper Lizelle Lee have the highest base price of INR 50 lakhs. Lee recently notched up two centuries for the Hobart Hurricanes in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL). Laura Harris and Nadine de Klerk were released by Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru respectively, registered at a base price of INR 30 lakhs.
India’s Sneh Rana registered at the base price of INR 30 lakh and many franchises might be interested to buy her in the auction. England bowler Issy Wong, who took the first-ever hat-trick in the tournament and New Zealand’s Leah Tahuhu have not registered for the auction.
Remaining purse of all franchises
Gujarat Giants will have the biggest remaining purse of Rs 4.4 crore and they need four players, including two overseas from the mini-auction. UP Warriorz have Rs 3.9 crore and they need to fill three places including one overseas player. Mumbai Indians have Rs 2.65 crore in the purse and they need to fill four slots while Royal Challengers Bengaluru also need to fill four slots with a remaining purse of Rs 3.25 crore. Delhi Capitals have four slots to fill, including one overseas and they have Rs 2.5 crore in the remaining purse
