New Delhi: Pakistan host Bangladesh for a two-match Test series starting on August 21, Wednesday. The first Test will take place in Rawalpindi while the second Test match of the series is scheduled to take place Karachi from August 25. Both the match are a part of the World Test Championship (WTC) series so the importance of the games is very much for the Pakistan side.
The Babar Azam-led team has struggled for a while majorly at the big-ticket events and they would be eagerly wanting to comeback into form by emerging victorious in the series. This series will give Pakistan a chance to be in contention to qualify for the one-off final at Lord’s in 2025. Pakistan failed to qualify for the first two WTC finals and are currently place on the sixth spot on the nine-team points table.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh are on the eighth spot in the points table with three defeats in four games and this series will give them also a chance to stay alive in contention if they are able to cut through. Amid severe political unrest back home, this would a challenge for the side to fight the odds and come back stronger.
