New Delhi: The Pro Kabaddi League (PKL completed its 100th match this season on Sunday as Gujarat Giants and U Mumba played an enthralling game of 40 minutes in the Western Derby at the Balewadi Sports Complex in Pune. The Giants stunned the Mumbai outfit by the barest margin of 34-33 to deny them promotion in the points table.
Earlier in the day, Patna Pirates outsmarted Jaipur Pink Panthers by 38-28 to propel their position to the second spot in the updated standings of the league stage.
U Mumba star raider Ajit Chauhan picked 14 raid points for his team to lead their cause, but his efforts were canceled by the Gujarat raiding combination of Guman Singh (10 points) and Rakesh (10 points). Sombir from Gujarat Giants was the best defender of this contest, having scored four tackle points.
Devank Dalal continued his prolific run for the Patna Pirates with his 13th Super 10 achieved. He picked up 14 raid points and was ably supported by fellow raider Ayan Lochchab, who claimed six raid points. Deepak and Ankit were vigilant in the defence with both players returning with four tackle points.
For Jaipur Pink Panthers, captain Arjun Deshwal bagged seven raid points and Neeraj Narwal was their second best with five points while Ankush Rathee claimed three tackle points.

Devank has been leaps and bounds ahead of his contemporaries and keeps flourishing with each match passing by. He has accumulated 221 points from 17 games after adding 14 raid points against Jaipur Pink Panthers. Ajit Ramesh Chauhan pipped Vijay Malik at fourth spot with a total of 143 points following his brilliance against Gujarat Giants, though it didn’t fetch his team the desired results.
