New Delhi: India’s domestic T20 tournament Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024 concluded with two great pre-quarter finals matches on December 9, Monday. SMAT 2024 has now moved to the knock-out stages as eight teams will fight for the glory. M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru and KSCA Cricket Ground in Alur will host the knock-out matches of SMAT.
Baroda, Bengal, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Mumbai, Saurashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Vidarbha advanced to the quarter-finals. Bengal and Uttar Pradesh are coming with a win in the pre-quarter finals.
Bengal defeated Chandigarh in a thriller match and defended 159 runs successfully. Rinku Singh proved his worth in the domestic circuit by playing a match-winning knock for Uttar Pradesh in the pre-quarter finals.
The two semi-finals of SMAT 2025 will be played at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on December 13 and the Final will take place on December 15, Sunday. Mumbai are the hot-favorites to win the tournament as they have India’s T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav, Shivam Dube, Shreyas Iyer, Ajinkya Rahane and Shardul Thakur in their team.
Punjab are the defending champion of SMAT but they were knocked out in the league stage as well. A total of 38 teams participated in SMAT 2024.
