New Delhi: West Indies thrashed Bangladesh by seven wickets in the 2nd ODI in St Kitts on Wednesday to bag their second win on the trot and clinch the three-match series with an unassailable 2-0 lead. Pacer Jayden Seales impressed with the ball while opener Brandon King played a fantastic knock of 82 runs to help the hosts bag a series-clinching victory in the 2nd ODI.
Seales proved captain Shai Hope’s decision to bowl first in the game right with a sensational spell as he finished with his best-ever bowling figures in ODIs to dismantle the Bangladesh batting line-up. The right-arm pacer drew the first blood for West Indies by dismissing Bangladesh opener Soumya Sarkar on a duck before sending the experienced Litton Das packing on 4 off 19 balls in quick succession.
The pacer didn’t stop there as he continued to wreak havoc on the Bangladesh batting line-up by getting rid of captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz next. Miraz was cleaned up by Seales on 1 off 5 balls as Bangladesh were left tottering on 54/3 in the first ten overs courtesy of the pacer’s exceptional opening spell with the new ball.

After Seales’ destructive spell, Mahmudullah tried to resurrect Bangladesh’s innings with a fighting 62 off 92 balls. The veteran batter combined with Afif Hossain (24) to share a 36-run stand for the 5th wicket and steady the ship for Bangladesh. However, the partnership was broken by Gudakesh Motie
, who got Hossain caught by Sherfane Rutherford.
Mahudullah continued his resistance on one end as combined with Tanzim Hasan Sakib (45) to add another important stand of 92 runs for the 8th wicket before he was eventually dismissed on 62 by Seales in the 5th over. Seales finished his spell with excellent figures of 4/22 off his 9 overs to register his best-ever figures in ODIs and help West Indies bowl out Bangladesh for 227 runs in the 2nd ODI.
Brandon King shines with the bat for West Indies
After Seales helped the hosts bundle out Bangladesh for a paltry 227, opener King slammed a brilliant knock of 82 runs off 76 balls to help West Indies clinch a comfortable victory and take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
King combined with Evin Lewis to get West Indies off to a flyer in the chase as the duo added 109 runs for the first wicket. King added another valuable partnership of 66 runs with Keacy Carty (45) for the 2nd wicket to set the stage for a clinical victory for the hosts.
