New Delhi: Haryana Steelers qualified for the playoffs after a dominating victory against Bengaluru Bulls in the first match of the evening on Wednesday, while U Mumba beat Tamil Thalaivas by 47-31 in the second match at the Balewadi Sports Complex in Pune on December 11.
Vinay and Shivam Patare scored 15 points combined, while Jaideep and Rahul also scored 4 tackle points each, and Mohammadreza Shadloui picked up 6 points as Haryana Steelers performed brilliantly in the crucial match. The raider of both teams took their time in the opening exchanges but the defenders kept the scoreboard ticking.
Vinay inflicted an exceptional Super Raid and eliminated three opposition players to extend the Steelers’ lead. The Bulls showed fighting spirit despite being out of the playoff contention. The Steelers held a four-point lead in the first half and they remained in control of the match in the second half.
The Bulls made a comeback after Prateek executed a Super Raid but the Haryana Steelers inflicted an All-Out and extended their lead to nine points. Ajinkya Pawar and Sushil picked up crucial points for the Bulls in the last few minutes but Haryana Steelers emerged victorious by 37-26.
In the second match of the evening, The U Mumba produced a stunning performance and defeated the Tamil Thalaivas by 41-28. They moved to the second place in the points table with 60 points.
