World’s Most Powerful Women in 2024: Sitharaman and 2 other Indians in Forbes List

New Delhi: Forbes has released its 21st annual ranking of the world’s most powerful women in 2024. The elite list includes the names of the extraordinary women who have made significant changes in their area of expertise, country and organisations. What is important, is that India’s Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has been included in this powerful list.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has topped the Forbes list of the world’s most powerful women. Ursula von der Leyen is the first woman to lead the European Commission. After a 14-year tenure in Angela Merkel’s cabinet, she has been making laws for more than 450 million EU citizens since 2019.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is placed at number 28 in the Forbes list. Sitharaman is known for her significant contribution to Indian politics and policies. She is India’s first full-time female finance minister, a country which is all set to become the world’s third-largest economy by 2027.

Besides, Sitharaman, HCL Technologies chief Roshni Nadar Malhotra and Biocon founder Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw are ranked 81st and 82nd respectively in the list.
