New Delhi: Gujarat Giants appointed former leg-spinner Pravin Tambe as their bowling coach ahead of the second season of the Women’s Premier League in 2025 on Thursday, December 12. Former Australian cricketer Daniel Marsh also joined the franchise as the batting coach while Michael Klinger will continue as their head coach.
Tambe made his debut in the Indian Premier League (IPL) at the age of 41 in 2013 for Rajasthan Royals (RR). He took a two-ball hat-trick against Kolkata Knight Riders in 2014. He played 33 matches in the IPL and picked up 28 wickets at an economy rate of 7.75. After that, he worked with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) as a coach.
Tambe said that he is eager to work with the talented group of players and will help them to sharpen their skills “I’m eager to work with this talented group of players to sharpen their skills and help them excel” said Tambe.
Marsh also has a lot of experience in coaching and has worked as a head coach of the Tasmania men’s team from 2013 to 2017. He also worked with the Australian women’s cricket team as an assistant coach.
“I look forward to developing a fearless approach to our batting with the aim of making our team one of the strongest batting units of the WPL” said Marsh.
WPL Auction on December 15
120 players are set to go under the hammer in the WPL 2025 mini-auction, which is scheduled to be held in Bengaluru on December 15. The auction will start at 3 PM (IST). Ahead of the mini-auction, the Gujarat Giants had retained players such as Beth Mooney, Ashleigh Gardner and Laura Wolvaardt. Phoebe Litchfield, Harleen Deol and Priya Mishra are also retained by the franchise. They have the biggest remaining purse of INR 4.4 crore heading into the mini-auction and they need four players to fill their slots.
Released players: Sneh Rana, Kathryn Bryce, Trisha Poojitha, Veda Krishnamurthy, Tarannum Pathan, Lea Tahuhu.
