New Delhi: Former UFC Interim Welterweight champion Colby Covington will make his return to the octagon against Joaquin Buckley in UFC Fight Night at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida on December 15, Sunday. Covington will be featuring in the UFC Fight Night event after four long years, he fought against Tyron Woodley in his last UFC Fight Night pay-per-view.
Initially, Ian Garry was to headline the event against Buckley but UFC Welterweight champion Belal Muhammad pulled out from his fight in UFC 310 due to an injury. Garry replaced him at the UFC 310 event against Shavakat Rakhmonov. Now Covington replaced Garry at the UFC Tampa event.
Covington is coming with a loss against Leon Edwards at UFC 296. It was the title match but Covington’s dream of winning the belt wasn’t fulfilled. While, Buckley is on a five-fight winning streak. He also knocked out Stephen Thompson in his last fight.
In the UFC Tampa co-main event, Billy Quarantillo will battle out against Cub Swanson. This fight will be in the featherweight division. Both fighters are coming from a loss and both will look to get back in the winning column.
