120 players go under the hammer
A total of 120 players were up for auction for the WPL auction, out of which 91 are Indians with the rest being overseas players that includes three from associate nations.
Only nine of the 91 Indian players are capped while among the foreigners players eight are uncapped. As majority of the squads had already retained their core set of players, only 19 slots were to be filled up.
Among the 19 slots five of them were for the overseas players. Gujarat Giants had the biggest purse of Rs 4.4 core before the start of the auction while Delhi Capitals had the smallest purse of Rs 2.5 crore.
The BCCI has not yet announced dates for the WPL’s 2025 edition though it is expected to begin in February.
