New Delhi: The FIFA awards ceremony kicked off with a bang as some of the biggest stars around the world gathered around to attend this prestigious event where the best of the best were given the appreciation that they deserve for the contributions they have made to the beautiful game. Samantha Johnson and Cristina Gullon were the hosts for the evening as they added their charm and greeted the football fans watching around the globe and the ones present there in the ceremony.
A magical night awaited us as some of the greatest names in world football, such as the legendary ex-Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, Juventus’ all time top scorer, Alessandro Del Piero, former World Cup winner with Brazil, Bebeto and many more were present in the ceremony. Before heading into the awards distribution, FIFA president Gianni Infantino also greeted the audience with his welcoming speech.
The night begins in Doha!
The night kicked off in Doha and the first award was none other than the Puskas award for the best goal that was scored last season. The award was presented by the legendary attacker of Juventus and Italy, Alessandro Del Piero. The award was given to Alejandro Garnacho of Manchester United for his unbelievable bicycle strike against Everton. Moving on to the second award of the night, the best women’s goalkeeper award was given to USA’s no.1, Alyssa Naeher for her outstanding performances in between the sticks. The best Women’s coach award was given to the current USA’s coach, Emma Hayes.
As the night proceeded, history was made as the ‘Queen of football’ added yet another individual award to her trophy cabinet, as the first ever Marta award for the best goal scored in women’s football, was given to the Brazilian Marta herself for a fantastic strike against Jamaica. The award was presented by the Women’s Indian international footballer Dalima Chhibber. Infantino presented the best Women’s footballer award to who else? but Barcelona’s smiling princess, Aitana Bonmati who won this award for the second consecutive year.
World Cup winner Bebeto presented the ‘Fair Play award’ to Thiago Maia and then FIFA’s Men’s goalkeeper award was given to Aston Villa’s Argentine shot-stopper, Emiliano Martinez, who won the award for the second time in three years. It was time for Men’s best eleven, where FIFA named the top eleven footballers on the planet which included the likes of Ballon D’or winner, Rodri, the teenage sensation Lamine Yamal, Real Madrid’s strong defender Rudiger and many more from some of the top European clubs.
Finally, it was the moment that everyone was waiting for, as Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti was handed the ‘FIFA Men’s coach of the year,’ for his unbelievable achievements with his side. Right after, it was his star player Vinicius Junior who was absolutely amazing throught the season, who won the ‘FIFA Men’s player of the year.’ A night full of excitement and also where these wonderfully talented footballers were given the respect in the prestigious FIFA awards ceremony in Doha came to an end as we bid goodbye to 2024. On to the next year, let’s see how this season ends and who will be the next winners of these titles.

Alejandro Garnacho’s wonder strike against Everton in their Premier League clash back in November 26, 2023 has won him the prestigious Puskas award in tonight’s FIFA award ceremomy.
