FC Barcelona uncover root of their recent performance slump

New Delhi: FC Barcelona began the season with 14 victories in 16 games under new manager Hansi Flick, is not much like the team that has only managed to earn five of 18 points in their last six La Liga games. At one point during this season, the Blaugrana appeared poised to win the league after establishing a sizable lead at the top of the table. Even though they are still in first place, Real Madrid, who have also played one fewer game, are only one point behind in third place, while second-place Atletico Madrid are tied for first place with a game remaining.

Inconsistency has been a big problem for Barcelonain their previous few games as they have managed to lose three out of their eight previious Laliga matches. It all started against Real Soceidad, where they lost the game 1-0, before losing against Las Palmas in their final fixture of November. In their previous outing against Leganes, they conceded an early goal fo gift the three points to their opponents. Things need to change for Hansi Flick and Barcelona before other teams catch-up.

The problem that Barcelona are facing is now evident in the team’s dressing room. Although there is individual quality, it seems as though there is a lack of focus and energy during key game moments. The locker room believes that the recent run of form is not because of player fatigue or a packed schedule, even though there aren’t any rotations. Rather, they stress that every three or four days, the team must learn how to function at its peak.

Rather, the general consensus is that there are times during the game when concentration and attentiveness could be enhanced. The goal let up just four minutes into the game against Leganes brought to light a persistent problem that the Catalans must resolve. It has, after all, occurred multiple times. Nine of Barça’s 20 goals this season have occurred in the first half, with two of those goals occurring early in the match against Rayo Vallecano (9 minutes) and Osasuna (18 minutes).

Barcelona midfielder stated- “It was a tough match, to be honest, it is impossible to leave here happy today. We started off sluggishly, and that is when they scored,”

“Above all, we need to enter the match better,” he added.

The Barcelona locker room has reportedly identified the problems behind their dip in form and inconsistent results on the pitch after a strong start to the campaign.  Football Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
