How Virat Kohli plotted lethal Travis Head’s dismissal in Brisbane Test

New Delhi: Star Indian player Virat Kohli was the brain behind the dangerous Travis Head’s early dismissal in the second innings of the third Test match at Brisbane. Head, who registered a brilliant century in the first innings at the Gabba, which was his second successive in the series, after notching up a hundred in the second innings of the Adelaide Test, seemed to be in a remarkable touch currently.

Kohli, who could not contribute in the match with the bat, orchestrated the perfect dismissal of Head by imposing a brilliant strategy to get rid of the most dangerous player. It was the 15th over of the innings being bowled by pacer Mohammed Siraj, who planned to bowl from over the wicket to Head. Skipper Rohit Sharma was initially hesitant and suspected that it would allow the Aussie bat to open his legs and smash on the on-side.

While Rohit said this to Siraj before the fourth delivery of the over, Kohli intervened and said that Siraj should continue to bowl from over the wicket and use the scrambled seam, which would take the ball away from the Aussie player. He further told Rohit to put a fielder on the square-leg region for an in-swinger and let Siraj target the stumps.

The plan which was thought of by Kohli worked in India’s favour as Siraj angles the ball across the batter who went for a big hit but ended up top-edging it as the ball was cleanly caught by wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant. India hot their biggest wicket as they were able to dismiss Head for just 17 runs. Meanwhile, rain and bad light played a spoilsport yet again as both the teams ended up playing a draw in the third Test match with the five-match series evenly poised at 1-1.
