We are saying this because there are people on the radar of Income Tax who have spent a lot of money on marriage but there is no account of that money. That is, Big Fat Indian Weddings in which more cash was spent are under the scrutiny of the Income Tax Department.
According to a report by Economics Times, the great grand weddings that took place in different cities of the country during November-December, and in which crores of rupees were spent, are now under the radar of the Income Tax Department. These are the weddings in which Bollywood stars and celebrities were also invited.
There is no account of Rs 7,500 crore in weddings
According to ET’s report, the Income Tax Department has raided the premises of 20 wedding planners in Jaipur. The Income Tax Department suspects that in the last one year, Rs 7500 crores have been spent in cash on these grand weddings, which has no account. The report said that the dubious entry operators who make fake bills, hawala agents, and mule accounts run this business in connivance with partners based in Hyderabad and Bangalore, which is flourishing on the basis of grand weddings held at the houses of the rich.
Radar on these too
If you have also had a destination wedding, then let us tell you that destination weddings are also on the radar of the Income Tax department and the department has also conducted raids at many places. During these raids, the Income Tax department will find out the transactions done in cash in which 50 to 60 percent of the wedding expenses have been paid in cash. At the same time, those weddings are also on the target in which Bollywood stars have been called by chartered planes and made to perform.
The Income Tax Department will investigate the expenses incurred in the weddings based on the guest list and the scale of the event. Catering firms are also being questioned in this regard. The Income Tax investigation so far has revealed that wedding planners from Jaipur are the masterminds and planners from other cities contact them to organize events.
