New Delhi: South Africa’s star batter Heinrich Klaasen has been fined 15% of his match fee for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the second ODI match against Pakistan on December 19. ICC also added one demerit point to his disciplinary record for violating Article 2.2 of the Code of Conduct. This relates to “abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during an International Match”.
The incident happened during the second ODI match between South Africa and Pakistan on Thursday. Klaasen delivered a stunning performance with the bat for the hosts and scored 97 runs off 74 balls as South Africa faced a tough challenge to chase 330 runs target.
The wicketkeeper batter played right till the end and was the last wicket to fall in the 43rd over. After his dismissal, Klaasen kicked the stumps in frustration, leading to the sanctions by match referee Richie Richardson.

Pakistan win ODI series against South Africa
Pakistan defeated South Africa by 81 runs in the second ODI at the Newlands in Cape Town. The visitors are leading the three-match ODI series by 2-0. Pakistan batted first and scored 329 runs in 49.5 overs. Babar Azam scored 73 runs off 95 balls and Rizwan also scored 80 runs off 82 balls while Kamran Ghulam played an explosive knock and amassed 63 runs off 32 balls with the help of five maximums and four boundaries.
Chasing the target, Pakistani bowlers picked wickets at the regular intervals as South Africa bowled out for 248 runs in 43.1 overs. Apart from Klaasen’s 97, other Proteas batters failed to make any contribution with the bat. The third ODI will be played on December 22 on Sunday at The Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg.
