New Delhi: Team India star Virat Kohli has always acknowledged the positive influence that his wife Anushka Sharma has had on his personal and professional life. Kohli rarely missed out on a chance to express his love and admiration for his better half and always credits her for his success. Recently, Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan opened up on Anushka’s influence on Kohli’s life.
Varun, who worked with Anushka in the movie Sui Dhaaga, called her a ‘real’ person and someone who says the right things at the right time. On his latest appearance on Ranveer Allahbadia’s podcast on YouTube, the actor shared an interesting anecdote from 2018 when Anushka shared insights about Kohli’s mindset with him. He revealed the star Indian cricketer was distraught after India’s loss against England in the Nottingham Test in 2018.
Kohli, who was captaining the Indian team in the Test match, played two brilliant knocks of 97 and 103 runs in the two innings respectively but couldn’t help India avoid defeat in the Test match. Anushka told Varun how Kohli was in tears after the game and blamed himself for the defeat as he was the leader of the side.
“It was at the Nottingham Test, when India lost. She said that she didn’t attend that game. She came back and didn’t know where Virat was. She went to the room and saw him, literally crying. He blamed himself, even though he was the highest scorer that day,” Varun said on the podcast.
Varun’s revelations are a reflection of the kind of mindset Kohli has when it comes to playing for the country. A livewire on the field, Kohli has always set standards high when representing the country and has always given his all in all formats of the game. Kohli is India’s most successful Test captain of all time having led the team to an impressive 40 wins in just 68 Test matches as skipper.
