New Delhi: Bevon Jacobs, the Auckland Aces’ big-hitting batter, has recieved a maiden international call-up for New Zealand’s upcoming T20I series against Sri Lanka at home. Jacobs was recently bought by the Mumbai Indians in the IPL mega-auction for his base prince of Rs 30 lacs.
He showed his big-hitting prowess for the New Zealand XI in the warm-up game against Sri Lanka on Monday, December 23. Jacobs made headlines by smashing a 16-ball 39 for the hosts.

New Zealand also announced the ODI squad for the home series against Sri Lanka as the trio of Rachin Ravindra, Daryl Mitchell and Matt Henry made comebacks in both the T20Is and the ODIs after missing last month’s trip to Sri Lanka ahead of the home Test series against England.
The Black Caps, on Monday, confirmed their squads for 3 T20Is and 3 ODIs against Sri Lanka with the tour starting at Mount Maunganui on December 28 with the T20I series opener. The second T20I will be played at the same venue before the teams travel to Nelson for the final fixture.
The ODI series will be played in January 2025, which will be the last 50-over assignment of the Kiwis ahead of the 2025 Champions Trophy.
Who is Bevon Jacobs?
Born in Pretoria in 2002, Jacobs’ family shifted to New Zealand when he was still just 3. He came into the limelight recently after being picked by MI in IPL mega-auction where legends like Kane Williamson and Daryl Mitchell went unsold. He had a strike rate of 188.73 to score 134 runs in the 2023/24 Super Smash.
Jacobs, who made his debuts in T20 and List A cricket last seasons, also performed brilliantly in his maiden Plunket Shield appearance for Auckland, scoring 75 and 69 against Wellington in October.
The tall middle-order batter hogged the limelight by slamming 100 off just 40 for South Brisbane against Roombull in Queensland T20 Max.
