New Delhi: Team India were accorded a rousing welcome after they reached New Delhi on Saturday morning with the T20 World Cup trophy. After getting heroes welcome at the airport in the morning, the fans assembled at the hotel and staff replicated the same.
The Rohit Sharma-led side then moved for for their next big assignment of meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence before proceeding to the airport for the second leg of felicitation in Mumbai. After Delhi provided the perfect fanfare to the Indian cricket team, Mumbai has now ramped up preparations for their arrival as second leg of felicitation is expected to be a level above.
Increased security on Mumbai roads
The Mumbai police has made adequate arrangements with heightened security on the roads for World Cup-winning Team India’s arrival. The Indian team would be participating in a open bus victory parade in Mumbai’s Marine drive on Thursday evening, where a large gathering of the fans are expected to assemble.
Traffic alerts have already been sent out in and around the area and several security personnel have also been deployed to maintain law and order during the procession. The victory bus parade would take place between the Marine drive and the Wankhede stadium, where the team would be felicitated again. As per multiple media reports, the 10 kilometre distance between Marine drive and the iconic Wankhede is under strict security cover and final preparations are being looked at for a smooth welcome if the World Champions.
Earlier, the victory parade bus reached Marine drive after it was given final touches by the artisans and workers for a smooth travel for the Indian cricket team. The Mumbai airport is also ready to welcome the heroes as a sea of fans is expected to assemble in the premises once the Indian team touches down.
