New Delhi: Doctors at a private hospital in Thane had to postpone the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) procedure on former Indian cricketer Vinod Kambli after he developed acute fever on Tuesday. The medical staff decided to go for the MRI procedure so as to get a clarity on the blood clots the former Indian batter is expected to have developed inside the brain. These clots were detected in some medical procedure conducted earlier.
Kambli was feeling fine and in a stable condition earlier on the day but when the medical team decided to take him for the MRI, he was found down with fever which prompted them to delay the procedure. Kambli was admitted to Akruti Hospital near Bhiwandi town on Saturday after he complained of pain among due to urinary tract infection.
Ex-cricketer responding well
Dr Vivek Trivedi, who is heading the medical team taking care of the former cricketer’s health, said that Kambli was stable after developing fever and the delay of the MRI was taken as a precautionary measure. Kambli, who’s in the hospital since last four days, is likely to be shifted out of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) within a day or so and would be discharged from the hospital after four days, Dr Trivedi has confirmed.
It also depends on how well the cricketer responds to the procedures and medications and as per the medical protocol, he will shifted to a general ward from the ICU on improvement of his health before he’s discharged. He was diagnosed with extreme urinary infection as puss had got collected in his bladder. The puss was removed when he was admitted to the hospital and the team is currently assessing his health.
Multiple examinations revealed that the cricketer had blood cots in his brain with the doctor confirming that his brain is not stable. The medical team further said that his health would be monitored further and then an action would be taken.
