New Delhi: According to the PA news agency, David Coote will not challenge the termination of his contract by the referees’ body PGMOL. Coote was fired earlier this month following the release of a video in which he made disparaging statements about Liverpool and former manager Jurgen Klopp. According to Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL), he was in serious breach of the provisions of his employment contract, with his position deemed untenable” after a comprehensive inquiry.
“Supporting David Coote continues to be important to us and we remain committed to his welfare,” This was PGMOL’s statement on December 9.

Coote had the ability to appeal the verdict, but PA understands the Nottinghamshire referee has decided not to do so. The footage that prompted PGMOL’s investigation into Coote’s actions originally surfaced on November 11. In that particular footage, Coote is asked for his thoughts on a Liverpool match where he had recently been fourth official, and he characterizes them as “s***”.
He then refers to Klopp as a “c***,” and when questioned why, Coote claims the German had “a right pop at me when I reffed them against Burnley in lockdown” and accused him of lying.
“I have got no interest in speaking to someone who’s f****** arrogant, so I do my best not to speak to him,” he further added to his statements.
Later in the video, Coote refers to Klopp as a “German c***”.
The Football Association launched its own inquiry into the footage, which is said to be focused on Coote’s final comment and whether his reference to Klopp’s nationality constituted an aggravated infringement of its misconduct guidelines.
The PGMOL inquiry that resulted in Coote’s contract termination is also said to have looked at another film that appeared to show Coote snorting a white powder, allegedly during Euro 2024, when he was one of the tournament’s assistant VARs. The governing body of European football, UEFA, has also assigned an ethics investigator to look into the incident.
It has been confirmed that former Premier League official David Coote will not appeal his dismissal from the PGMOL, the referees’ governing body. Football Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
