New Delhi: Two greats of the game were clashing for the first time in WWE as Gunther defended his WWE heavyweight championship against CM Punk in a steel cage match at the Allstate arena in Rosemont, Illinois on December 30, Sunday.
Gunther retained his title as he defeated Punk. The fight was top-notch as both fighters fought hard in the match. Punk started things off by hitting some combination to Gunther. Dominik Mysterio interfered in the match and slammed the cage’s door on Punk’s head.
After slamming Punk, Gunther took the advantage and successfully escaped through the door and defended his title successfully. After the fight, Dominik called out the New Day and Santos Escobar and attacked Punk.
After this Dominik’s father Rey Mysterio, LA Knight, and Otis make their entrance and save Punk from them. Rey Mysterio hit his signature move 619 to Dominik and New Day and then Punk delivered GTS to them.
Punk’s return in Chicago was worth watching for the WWE fans as Punk delivered a great performance within the ring and on the mic as well. Punk is now seeking to deal against Seth Rollins as he is set to face him in the WWE RAW episode on Netflix.
Gunther won the heavyweight title in August and defended his belt successfully multiple times against multiple opponents.
