Deepti Sharma moves to fifth spot in ICC rankings; Jemimah, Richa make progression

New Delhi: Indian all-rounder Deepti Sharma has made progress in the latest updated ICC rankings published on Monday by the International Cricket Council (ICC). She has moved to the fifth spot in women’s bowlers in the ICC ODI rankings.

Deepti has moved from sixth spot to fifth spot with a total rating points of 665. The progression comes after the Uttar Pradesh player displayed terrific efforts with the ball in the recently concluded three-match ODI series against the West Indies. She claimed nine wickets at an average of 10.00 after registering her second career-best figures of 6 for 31 in the third and final match as India swept the series 3-0.

Deepti’s highest rating points in the ICC ODI bowling is 703. She has a total of 123 dismissals from 98 ODI matches at an average of 27.39 with the help of three five-wicket hauls. England left-arm spinner Sophie Ecclestone (771) leads the charts in the ODI format for bowlers’ rankings followed by Australian duo of Megan Schutt (704) and Ashleigh Gardner (698). South African all-rounder Marizanne Kapp is on the fourth spot with a rating points of 677.

In other progression from Indian players, middle order batter Jemimah Rodrigues has moved up four spots to finish the year at No.22 position in the ICC Women’s ODI rankings. She has a rating points of 537 after scoring 112 runs in the West Indies ODIs at home at 37.33.

Wicketkeeper-batter Richa Ghosh, who scored 62 runs against the West Indies in three innings, has moved seven spots up at the 41st place with a rating points of 448, which is now her career-best rating points.

Despite scoring two fifties in the series, Indian opener Smriti Mandhana slid to the third spot (720 rating points) with Sri Lankan skipper Chamari Athapaththu displacing her at the second place (733). South African batter Laura Wolvaardt holds the pole position (773).

 Deepti Sharma’s stellar performance in the recent India vs. West Indies ODI series propelled her to fifth place in the ICC Women’s ODI bowling rankings.
