Australian players pose with BGT, Ashes and WTC trophies after Sydney win vs India

New Delhi: The Aussies decided to pose with all the big trophies that they have won in Test cricket after a historic day in Syndey. Australia thrashed India by six wickets in the last Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test match at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) on Sunday, January 5. The hosts clinched the five-match series by 3-1.

The Australian bowlers played a big role in the Sydney win. Scott Boland picked up 6 wickets and Cummins took three wickets while Webster also picked up one wicket in the second innings. Their batters didn’t face much problems to chase down a 162-run target. Pat Cummins and Co. have now won all the big Test series.

The Aussies retained the Ashes in England and won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and the 2023 WTC Final. The Australian player posed with all three trophies in their dressing room after winning the Sydney Test.

‘Consistency with the same squad is key’: Pat Cummins

When asked about the brilliant milestone of winning all the major trophies in Test cricket, Australian captain Pat Cummins said that Test cricket constantly challenges him as a skipper and you need more than 11 players and an amazing support staff to win everywhere in the world.

“I didn’t know that we’d won kind of everything until half an hour ago but that’s always the aim. One of the things I love most about test cricket is it challenges you in so many different ways. You need more than 11 players, you need an amazing squad, you need amazing support staff to be able to win everywhere in the world” said Cummins in the post-match press conference.

Australia will next face Sri Lanka in the two-match Test series, starting from January 29. Pat Cummins and Co. have already qualified for the WTC final and will face South Africa on June 11, 2025.
