New Delhi: With a weak trend in domestic equities, the combined market valuation of five of the top-10 most-valued firms plunged Rs 1,85,952.31 crore last week. Country’s largest private sector bank, HDFC Bank, recorded the biggest loss. Last week, the BSE benchmark dropped 1,844.2 points, and the Nifty declined 573.25 points or 2.38 per cent.

Laggards included HDFC Bank, ITC, Reliance Industries (RIL), ICICI Bank, and State Bank of India (SBI). The mentioned companies faced erosion from their stock market valuations. HCL Technologies – the latest entrant in the top-10 pack valued firms, was among the gainers. Other gainers included, Bharti Airtel, Infosys, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), and Hindustan Unilever.

HDFC Bank recorded its market capitalisation (mcap) dropping by Rs 70,479.23 crore to Rs 12,67,440.61 crore. The Kolkata-based diversified entity ITC’s valuation declined Rs 46,481 crore to Rs 5,56,583.44 crore.

Reliance Industries, India’s most valued company’s mcap eroded by Rs 12,179.13 crore to Rs 16,81,194.35 crore. The State Bank of India witnessed its wealth going down by Rs 44,935.46 crore to Rs 6,63,233.14 crore.

ICICI Bank, country’s second largest private sector bank, recorded its market cap lowering by Rs 11,877.49 crore to Rs 8,81,501.01 crore.

TCS, India’s No1 IT company, which declared its Q3 Results 2024-25 on January 9, 2025, recorded its wealth surging by Rs 60,168.79 and its mcap going up to Rs 15,43,313.32 crore. The TCS shares jumped nearly 6 per cent on January 10 after the IT services firm announced an 11.95 per cent jump in October-December quarter net profit to Rs 12,380 crore.

The market valuation of HCL Tech went up by Rs 13,120.58 crore to Rs 5,41,539.01 crore. The valuation of Infosys, country’s second largest IT firm, increased by Rs 11,792.44 crore to Rs 8,16,626.78 crore. Bharti Airtel appreciated Rs 8,999.41 crore to Rs 9,19,933.99 crore. Hindustan Unilever’s mcap rallied Rs 8,564.26 crore to Rs 5,73,758.44 crore.
