New Delhi: Team India will start their Champions Trophy preparations with the three-match ODI series against England, which will start on February 6. The Men in Blue will begin their Champions Trophy campaign against Bangladesh on February 20. Team India is placed in Group A along with Pakistan, Bangladesh and New Zealand.
Star Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav has resumed bowling in the nets ahead of the crucial white-ball assignments. He has been out of the action after picking up a groin injury during the first Test against New Zealand. He also missed out on the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia due to injury.
He was referred to the BCCI Centre of Excellence after the conclusion of the New Zealand series. Ahead of the Champions Trophy, Kuldeep took to his official Instagram account and shared a video of him training in the nets. He last played an ODI match against Sri Lanka in August 2024 and has been away from the format since then.
He holds a brilliant record for the national team in all three formats. He has played a total of 40 T20I games and took 69 wickets at an average of 14.07. In the ODI format, he picked up 172 wickets at an average of 26 from 106 matches. He has been an on-and-off member of the Test squad but has taken 56 wickets in 13 Test matches at an average of 22.16 as well.
BCCI yet to announce India’s Champions Trophy squad
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has delayed the squad announcement for the Champions Trophy 2025. As per the Cricbuzz report, Ajit Agarkar-led selection was initially expected to announce the squad by January 12 but they requested an extension from the International Cricket Council (ICC).
The delay in the announcement of the squad is kind of intentional as the board seeks more time to finalise their team. There is still no confirmation on Kuldeep’s fitness and it remains to be seen whether he will picked in the squad for the Champions Trophy.
Spinner Kuldeep Yadav is back training in the nets as he prepares for a return to the Indian team, possibly for the ODI series against England and Champions Trophy 2025. Cricket Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
