New Delhi: The Preliminary card of UFC 311 commences with the members of Team Khabib. Tagir Ulanbekov was all set to take on Clayton Carpenter and Ulanbekov’s coach Khabib Nurmagomedov was also present in the ringside.
The fight between both fighters was competitive. Ulanbekov showed his grappling skills throughout the fight. He controlled most of the ground time and didn’t give Carpenter much freedom in the bout.
Carpenter had some moments in the fight like he was in control in the end moments of the first round and the start of the second round but he was never able to convert his momentum to build some pressure on Khabib’s disciple. At last, Ulanbekov won the fight via unanimous decision.
The main event of UFC 311 prelims shocked everyone as Payton Talbott suffered a massive upset loss against Raoni Barcelos. Talbott was set to become a rising star in the bantamweight division and in the meantime, he got a huge fan following in the UFC with his unbeaten record of 9-0.
Talbott was a massive favorite to dominate the fight but Barvelos attempted an early takedown on the teenager and put him on the ground from the start of the bout. The Brazilian also tried to give a rear-naked choke to Talbott in the first round as well.
In the first round, Talbott was dominated by the Brazilian on the ground. Barcelos continued to show his grappling skills and didn’t give a single chance to Talbott in the second round as well and was dominated the first two rounds.
In the last round, Talbott had just one option to win the fight: TKO Barcelos. Talbott countered the opponent’s wrestling, but when both fighters stood up on their feet, Barcelos put him onto the canvas.
