New Delhi: Addressing the crowd during the 50th-anniversary event of the Wankhede Stadium, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma said that the team will try their best to bring the Champions Trophy back. The Men in Blue are placed in Group A along with Pakistan, Bangladesh and New Zealand. Rohit and Co. will open their Champions Trophy campaign against Bangladesh on January 20 at the Dubai International Stadium.

The Indian captain said that it has always been a dream to represent the country in any ICC trophy and the team will embark on another dream of 140 crore people. “I’m sure when we reach Dubai. 140 crore people will be behind us. We will try to do everything we can and bring the trophy back to Wankhede” Rohit said.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the 15-member squad for the Champions Trophy on Saturday, January 18. Shubman Gill is named as the vice-captain and Jasprit Bumrah has also been included in the team.

Team India faced a tough time in last few months after losing an ODI series against Sri Lanka and then losing two consecutive Test series against New Zealand and Australia. Rohit and Co. also failed to qualify for the final of the World Test Championship. However, with the change in format, Team India will be hopeful of adding one more ICC trophy to their cabinet.
